1st International Congress on Biotech Solutions for Sustainability GDPR and Information Text

Information Text Regarding the Processing of Personal Data Obtained through Membership, Contact Forms, and Orders
The 1st International Congress on Biotech Solutions for Sustainability requests some of your personal data (such as name, surname, education information, email address, mobile phone number) in order to fulfill its legal obligations arising from relevant legislation, such as the Law on the Protection of Personal Data No. 6698, and to conduct processes such as collection, invoicing, order delivery, and/or membership registration. Your personal data will be processed based on your explicit consent, and will only be used for the purposes and scope specified in this GDPR and Information Text, and will be processed in an environment not accessible to everyone and will be kept in this environment. During the congress, participants' and speakers' photos may be shared on social platforms during oral/poster presentations and at the congress center related to the event.

Purpose of Processing Personal Data
Personal data within the scope of the 1st International Congress on Biotech Solutions for Sustainability will be processed in compliance with legal and ethical standards, for the purposes of planning and executing commercial activities, providing information to authorized institutions and organizations as required by legislation, obtaining payment services for issues not directly provided by us and not within our expertise, delivering orders, collecting payments, creating your membership record, issuing invoices, resolving consumer complaints, sending commercial electronic messages upon your explicit consent, planning and executing necessary audit activities to ensure that activities are carried out in accordance with Gebze Technical University procedures and relevant legislation, planning and executing corporate sustainability activities, conducting activities to protect the reputation of our university, managing request and complaint processes, planning and executing corporate governance and communication activities. Your personal data will be processed in compliance with the principles of legality and honesty, for the purpose they are processed for, limited and proportionate, and will be kept for the period required by the relevant legislation or for the purpose they are processed for. Your personal data may be processed by methods such as obtaining, recording, storing, preserving, modifying, rearranging. The collected information will not be shared with third parties under any circumstances without your notification or contrary instructions, will not be used for commercial purposes for reasons other than activities, and will not be sold.

Transfer of Personal Data
Personal data obtained from you may be transferred to the Ministry of Commerce, domestic/foreign/international, public/private institutions and organizations, companies and consultants of our university, other group companies, other authorized institutions and organizations, suppliers or subcontractors, persons or institutions authorized by the Turkish Commercial Code or other relevant legislation, legally authorized public and/or private legal entities limited to the purpose requested by them, and other persons or institutions permitted or required by other legislation, upon request of official authorities. Your personal data may be transferred to third parties without your explicit consent in accordance with Articles 5 and 8 of the Personal Data Protection Law.

Method of Collecting Personal Data
Your personal data may be collected through our website in written, verbal or electronic form.

Erasure, Destruction or Anonymization of Personal Data
In accordance with Article 7 of the Personal Data Protection Law, even if personal data has been processed in accordance with the relevant legislation, if the reasons requiring its processing have ceased, personal data will be erased, destroyed or anonymized by the 1st International Congress on Biotech Solutions for Sustainability upon request of the data subject or ex officio. The procedures and principles regarding this matter will be carried out in accordance with the Regulation on Deletion, Destruction or Anonymization of Personal Data published in the Official Gazette dated 28.10.2017 and numbered 30224. Following the date on which our obligation to delete, destroy or anonymize personal data arises, personal data will be erased, destroyed or anonymized within 3 months. When you apply to our university to request deletion or destruction of your personal data:
a) If all processing conditions for personal data have ceased to exist, the requested personal data will be erased, destroyed or anonymized. Your request will be concluded within 30 days at the latest, and you will be informed.
b) If all processing conditions for personal data have ceased to exist and the requested personal data have been transferred to third parties, this situation will be notified to the third parties; necessary actions will be taken within the scope of the regulation.
c) If all processing conditions for personal data have not ceased to exist, your request may be rejected with reasons explained in accordance with the third paragraph of Article 13 of the Personal Data Protection Law, and the rejection response will be notified to you in writing or electronically within 30 days.

Your Rights Arising from the Personal Data Protection Law
As data subjects, customers have the following rights under Article 11 of the Law:
- Learning whether personal data is processed,
- Requesting information if personal data has been processed,
- Learning the purpose of processing personal data and whether they are used in accordance with their purpose,
- Knowing the third parties to whom personal data is transferred domestically or abroad,
- Requesting correction of personal data if it is incomplete or incorrectly processed,
- Requesting deletion, anonymization or destruction of personal data,
- If personal data is corrected, deleted, anonymized or destroyed, requesting notification of this process to third parties,
- Objecting to the occurrence of a result against oneself by means of analysis of personal data exclusively through automated systems,
- In case of suffering damage due to unlawful processing of personal data, requesting compensation.

Non-personal information is information that cannot be personally identified. Such information can be used for any purpose and can be shared with third parties without obtaining consent.
